What is GREAT 8 ?
GREAT 8
is the name for the end of year celebrations for LanierMiddle
School’s 8th grade graduating class of
2012!
It is a unique opportunity for 8th grade
parents, students and administrators to celebrate the accomplishments of the entire
8th class at various events scheduled in May.
It is a parent-driven program paid and organized by PTO
parents of
GREAT 8
students with a financial
contribution from the school to cover transportation.
DUES
are
$80.00
per student
which covers the costs of
all GREAT 8 events, a GREAT 8 T-shirt, and a panoramic class picture.
The
GREAT 8
isn’t just about celebration; it’s also an opportunity for
memories. A professional photographer will come to Lanier
April 10, 2012
to take a panoramic photo of the
great Class of 2012. This photographer has been coming to Lanier
for several years and does an excellent job. With students going off to
different high schools, a panoramic photo is a wonderful way to remember
classmates!
May 18, 2012
is the Great 8 dance from 7-10pm in the transformed
Lanier Cafeteria.
May 30, 2012
is the Great 8 field trip to Dave
& Busters
May 31, 2012
is the Great 8 Breakfast and Awards
Ceremony
In addition to the
GREAT 8
events listed above, each student
will receive a commemorative t-shirt with a logo specifically designed for
their class

Matching Gift from Employer? Here's how...
(9/1/2011)
Read article
Many companies sponsor matching gift programs, which are designed to match charitable contributions made by their employees. Companies often match gifts made by employees, spouses, retirees, and widows/widowers. Check with your company's human resources or payroll department to see whether it offers a matching gift program before making your next gift to the Lanier Middle School PTO.
If your company participates, request a matching gift form from your employer and send it completed and signed along with your gift. Once we receive your form, we process it and send it back to your employer, who will then send in a matching gift donation to Lanier PTO on your behalf. We will send you and the company receipts for tax purposes. This is a great opportunity for you to support the PTO and possibly double or even triple the amount of your gift!

Dear parents,
This is the last week of vacation and while the students are trying to squeeze everything out of their last days of freedom, parents are getting in the school season mode rapidly. Here is a quick checklist to help:
- SHOPPING: School uniforms, backpacks, shoes. Label everything you can. Refer to the Lanier dress code.
- SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Please check your specific cluster supplies at the school website. They are needed the first day of school. Please consider Office Depot. Lanier will receive a store credit equal to 5% of all school supply purchases made by our students if you tell them you are from Lanier at checkout.
- TEXTBOOKS: You can check-out student textbooks during Pup Camp or the week before school. See dates here. These are for you to keep at home throughout the year and return in May. Each cluster has copies of the textbooks for work at school.
- IMMUNIZATIONS: If your student has had a well-check since last year, please send a copy of your most recent immunizations to the school nurse. Specially 7th graders who need Tdap booster and Meningococcal (MCV4).
- CHECK YOUR PTO Store: What can you do ahead of time which is available online? Update your directory entry, think about your ads in the upcoming school directory, review those summer photos quickly! Check your shopping needs at the online Store. Did you know that all Lanier Gear is now available online for purchase by credit cart? You can also take care of all your favorite events, the Fiesta Party in October, the Book Fairs, the Family Math Night and so many more ...
- TAKE CARE OF YOUR PTO MEMBERSHIP. While you are online, please take a moment to take care of your PTO membership. For a $10 annual fee, you entire family become members of our PTO.
- BACK-to-SCHOOL EVENT: Our popular bash is coming up soon, on Thursday, August 18th. Students will meet their GSG and cluster teachers starting at 4 pm. There will be 6th grade orientation for parents (6 pm), a social bash for students in the cafeteria and one-stop PTO shopping set-up in the gym. If you need a school map, you can print it here.
All Lanier Gear is now available for purchase online. Vintage models go at discounted prices. Check out our new look! Every item now has a photo online.
